A 727 pound Alligator was recently caught on the Mississippi River. This breaks the previous record by almost 25 pounds. It took a 6 man crew to haul the behemoth reptile into the boat after a hunter shot it with a crossbow. This catch has been eye opening for citizens along the river. The average gator on the Mississippi River is around 500 pounds. Since the new record is over 200 pounds heavier, people are starting to stay more aware about gators. This proves that alligators are growing more and more each year. Who knows, maybe 100 years from now gators will be the size of whales.
